6호 처분 감호시설 교사의 여가 프로그램을 활용한 교육 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

Abstract

본 연구는 6호 감호시설의 아이들의 교육을 담당하는 연구참여자의 경험을 내러티브 탐구 방법론을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 목적 수행을 위한 연구퍼즐로는 첫째, 6호감호시설에 있는 아이들과의 교육에서 연구참여자는 어떠한 경험을 하였는가이다. 둘째, 느린학습자의 특징을 보이는 6호 감호시설 아이들에게 여가 프로그램은 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가로 설정하였다. 연구 결과 시설의 아이들은 대체로 가정에서 방임 및 학대와 학교에서 부정적 경험으로 인한 기초 학력 부족, 정서적, 인지적 어려움을 겪고 있었으며 타인에 대한배려와 소통의 부재 현상도 보이고 있었다. 이에 연구참여자는 인격과 학습 능력을 쌓아가는 중요한 성장 시기에 있는 아이들에게 지적, 신체적 여가 활동 프로그램을 활용한 개인별맞춤 교육을 시도하였다. 시간이 흐르며 아이들은 독서, 토론, 그리고 발표를 준비하고 수행하는 과정에서 자신의 의사표현에 능숙해졌으며, 축구, 마라톤 등 신체적 여가 활동을 통해유능감을 느끼며 타인을 배려하고 공감할 줄 아는 능력을 키울 수 있었다. 유능감과 정서적안정은 학습 영역 확장의 긍정적 계기로 작용하였다. 이러한 결과는 본 연구의 이론적 시사점이다. 실무적 시사점은 여가 프로그램을 활용한 정서적 지지와 맞춤형 교육 훈련 제공의필요성을 도출하였다.

This study explored the experiences of an educator working with 6th-grade children in a protective facility using a narrative inquiry approach. It examined two key questions: the educator’s experiences in teaching these children and the impact of leisure programs on slow learners. The children, having endured neglect, abuse, and negative school experiences, faced emotional and cognitive difficulties, academic skill gaps, and limited empathy and communication abilities. To address these challenges, the educator implemented individualized programs integrating intellectual and physical leisure activities. Over time, the children improved their self-expression through reading and presentations while developing competence and empathy through activities like soccer and marathons. These improvements underscored the role of leisure programs in fostering emotional growth and self-efficacy. The findings highlight the need for tailored, leisure-based education programs to provide both emotional support and essential skill development.
