가족돌봄 청소년의 학교생활 경험과 지원 요구에 관한 질적연구

Abstract

이 연구는 가족돌봄 청소년의 학교생활 어려움과 지원 요구를 심층적으로 탐색하였다. 연구목적은 학교 기반 교육복지 지원체계 마련을위한 정책적 시사점 도출이다. 이를 위해 질적 연구방법을 적용하여, 울산 지역에 거주하는 가족돌봄 청소년 4명을 대상으로 초점집단인터뷰(FGI)를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 총 5개의 상위주제와 17개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 첫째, 가족돌봄 청소년은 예기치않게 돌봄을 시작하며, 다차원적 돌봄 활동에 참여하게 되고, 이로 인해 일상생활 전반이 돌봄 중심으로 구조화되는 경향을 보였다. 둘째, 돌봄으로 인해 학업 수행 저하, 출결 관리의 어려움, 또래 관계 단절, 사회적 활동의 제약, 시간 부족 등 학교생활 전반에 걸친 다차원적 어려움을 경험하였다. 셋째, 지속적인 심리적 불안과 정서적 스트레스, 신체적 피로, 건강 문제, 경제적 부담 등 복합적인 어려움이 동반되었다. 넷째, 가족돌봄 상황을 공개하는 데 있어 양가적 태도를 보이며, 이로 인해 학교와의 소통에도 제약이 나타났다. 다섯째, 정서적 지지와전문 심리상담, 학업 및 진로 지원, 실질적 지원 서비스 연계, 학교 내조기 발견 체계, 또래 교류 기회 등 통합적 지원에 대한 요구가 확인되었다. 본 연구는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 학교 기반 조기 발견 체계구축과 학교⋅지자체⋅민간 협력 통합 지원 모델 개발의 필요성을 강조하며, 교육복지 정책 수립 및 실천 방향에 시사점을 제공한다.

This study explored the school experiences of young carers in South Korea, focusing on the challenges they face and the support they need, to inform a school-centered educational welfare system. Four young carers in Ulsan participated in focus group interviews, and thematic analysis identified five overarching themes and seventeen sub-themes. Participants unexpectedly assumed diverse caregiving roles, restructuring daily life around care, which negatively affected their academics, attendance, relationships, and time management. They experienced ongoing anxiety, stress, fatigue, health issues, and financial strain, and hesitated to disclose their situation, limiting communication with schools. They called for integrated support, including emotional counseling, academic and career guidance, practical services, in-school identification, and peer support. Findings highlight the need for early school-based identification and collaborative support models involving schools, local governments, and community organizations to guide policy and practice.
