소래 김중건 시가의 전승 현황과 논의 방향

Abstract

본 연구는 항일 독립운동가이자 사상가였던 소래 김중건(1889~1933)이 남긴 시가의 전승 현황을 문헌학적으로 고증하고, 그 의미와 향후 연구 방향을 제시하는 데 목적을 둔다. 소래는 북만주 지역을 중심으로 활동하며 약 90수의 창가와 몇 수의 한시를 남겼다. 그의 시가는 단순한 개인 서정시를 넘어, 식민지 현실에 맞선 혁명적 의지와 민족적 비애, 농민・노동자・여성 등 피억압 계층의 해방과 평등을 지향하는 사회주의적 이상, 그리고 특정 장소와 지역적 감각을 결합한 독특한 사상과 운동의 흔적을 함께 담고 있다. 그러나 그동안 소래 시가는 주로 추숭적 시각에서 다뤄져 엄밀한 문헌학적 검토와 주석 작업이 미비했으며, 전승 경로와 원본의 실체 역시 충분히 밝혀지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 독립기념관 소장 필사본 『노래집』과 이후 간행된 인쇄본(1969년 『소래집』, 2003년 『소래 김중건 전기』)을 비교・분석하여, 필사본이 전승의 핵심 저본 역할을 했음을 고증하였다. 필사본의 서지적 특징, 필사자 이원규의 역할, 작품 수 변동과 편집 오류, 소래 창안 문자 해독, 기록 방식과 시점 등을 상세히 검토함으로써, 향후 정본 확정과 주석본 발간을 위한 기초적 토대를 마련하였다. 특히 필사본에는 표준 문법과 상이한 표기, 지역어, 의미가 불분명한 단어들이 혼재되어 있어 주석 작업이 필수적임을 확인하였다. 또한 소래 시가의 해석과 연구를 위한 시각으로, 첫째 기초 주석 작업과 표기・의미 해독, 둘째 소래의 다른 저술・행적과 당대 사상사・사회사적 맥락 분석, 셋째 만주 지역 장소학・문학지리학적 연구를 제안하였다. 그의 창가는 집단 의례와 민중계몽의 수단으로 기능하며, 「長釼歌」 등은 파시즘과 분파주의자들에 대한 물리적 저항 의지를 담고, 「下窨子에서 어느 해 九一節에 읊으신 詩 한 首」 등은 ‘齊世’를 통한 평등세상 건설 의지를 드러낸다. 「百八節」과 같은 서사시는 집단적 기억과 운동 노선의 기록으로서 가치가 크다. 끝으로, 현재 중국 목단강시 팔녀투강기념관에 소장된 미공개 원종 관련 문서의 중요성을 강조하며, 이들 자료의 확인과 공개가 향후 연구의 핵심 과제임을 지적하였다. 본 연구는 소래 시가의 전승 계보를 체계적으로 정리하고, 문헌학적・사상적・지리적 관점의 복합적 해석을 제시함으로써, 독립운동사와 근대문학, 사상사 연구의 새로운 지평을 여는 데 기여하고자 한다.

This study examines the transmission history and philological characteristics of poetry composed by Sorae Kim Jung-geon(1889–1933), an anti-Japanese independence activist and thinker, and proposes directions for future academic research. Sorae, who was active mainly in northern Manchuria, left approximately 90 songs and several Classical Chinese poems. His works transcend personal lyricism, encompassing revolutionary will, socialist ideals, and an acute sense of place that reflects the historical and cultural context of his time. However, previous studies have largely focused on commemorative perspectives, lacking rigorous textual criticism, systematic annotation, and clear verification of original manuscripts and transmission processes. By comparing the handwritten manuscript Noraejip preserved at the Independence Hall of Korea with subsequent printed editions (Soraejip, 1969; Biography of Sorae Kim Jung-geon, 2003), this study confirms the manuscript’s central role as a primary source. It further explores the bibliographical features, the transcriber Lee Won-gyu’s contribution, editorial changes, errors, and the use of unique scripts devised by Sorae. These findings provide a solid foundation for establishing a critical edition and annotated publication in the future. The study also suggests a multidimensional research approach that includes philological analysis, socio-historical contextualization, and literary geography. Notably, Sorae’s songs functioned as tools for collective rituals and popular enlightenment, with works such as Janggeomga expressing resistance to fascism and factionalism, and A Poem Written on Gu-il Day at Haeumja articulating the ideal of universal equality(齊世). Finally, the study highlights the importance of examining previously undisclosed documents held at the Mudanjiang Eight Heroines Memorial Hall in China, which may further clarify the original form and context of Sorae’s poetry. This research aims to broaden the understanding of Sorae’s literary legacy and contribute to new perspectives in the study of Korean independence movements, modern literature, and intellectual history.
