The poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT)-degrading Piscinibacter sp. SBD11-9 was isolated from a maize field soil in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, Republic of Korea, where biodegradable mulch films were applied over 8 years. Whole genome analysis revealed that the genome of strain SBD11-9 (5.386 Mb) comprises one chromosome (5,335,603 bp) and one plasmid (50,699 bp), with G+C contents of 67.6%, and 63.7%, respectively. It also suggested that the strain is new species of the genus Piscinibacter. Strain SBD11-9 possesses five genes encoding potential poly(ethylene terephthalate) hydrolases (PETases), one of which showed a high protein identity (97.2%) to a PETase reported to degrade PBAT. This genome provides the clues for the biodegradation of PBAT-based mulch films.-
