| dc.description.abstract | This study examines resident participation in Seoul’s urban regeneration projects by classifying participant types and analyzing factors influencing satisfaction. K-means clustering identified three groups: formal, practical, and self-reliant. PLS regression was employed to determine the main drivers of satisfaction. Community activities emerged as a common determinant across all groups, yet distinctive features were evident. The formal type, characterized by short-term and institutionally guided involvement, requires strategies that broaden opportunities and deepen engagement. The practical type, largely involved in resident councils and cooperatives, valued both physical improvements—such as vacant house repairs—and community activities, underscoring the need to link tangible outcomes with collective processes. The self-reliant type, organized around Community Regeneration Corporations and cooperatives, emphasized local content promotion and organizational autonomy, with satisfaction associated with sustainable management and community branding. These results indicate that the success and sustainability of urban regeneration rely not only on physical improvements but also on the nature of resident participation. The study underscores the necessity of differentiated strategies for each type and provides policy implications for enhancing effectiveness and ensuring the long-term sustainability of resident-led regeneration initiatives. | - |
