국내 주요 걷기 축제 프로그램 체험 요소의 통합적 분석: 질적내용분석과 토픽 모델링의 수렴적 혼합방법연구

Abstract

이 연구는 걷기 축제를 문화적 맥락 안에서 조명하고, 축제 체험 요소를 중심으로 실제 사례를 통해 그 의미를 실증적으로 탐색하고자 하였다. 걷기와 걷기 여행의 특성을반영한 체험 요소를 도출하기 위해, 지속가능성과 대표성을 가지는 전국 8개 걷기 축제의공식 프로그램을 수집하여 질적내용분석을 수행하였다. 아울러, 해당 축제에 참여한 참가자들의 온라인 후기 데이터를 질적내용분석과 토픽 모델링을 통합한 수렴적 혼합연구 방법으로 분석함으로써, 체험 요소의 타당성을 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 걷기 축제의 체험 요소는일탈성, 놀이성, 대동성, 장소성, 회복성, 성취감으로 유형화되었다. 이중 ‘회복성’과 ‘성취감’은 걷기 축제의 고유한 차별성을 보여주는 핵심 요소로 나타났다. 회복성은 자연 친화적환경에서의 심신 치유 경험을, 성취감은 내재적 보상과 완보 인증과 같은 외재적 보상을 통해 축제 참가자의 내적 동기를 강화하며, 이는 후속 태도에도 영향을 미친다. 이 연구는 축제의 일반적 특성을 넘어, 걷기 축제 고유의 경험 특성을 반영한 체험 요소 분석을 통해 축제 프로그램 연구의 세분화 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한, 향후 차별화된 축제 프로그램 기획과 운영에 실무적인 함의 또한 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

This study examines the experiential elements of walking festivals within a broader cultural context. To identify the distinctive characteristics of walking-based events, the official programs of eight walking festivals in South Korea —selected for their sustainability and regional representativeness—were analyzed through qualitative content analysis. In addition, participant-generated online reviews were examined using a convergent mixed-methods approach that combined qualitative content analysis with topic modeling, thereby validating the derived experiential dimensions. The analysis revealed six core experiential themes: escapism, playfulness, communality, sense of place, restoration, and achievement. Among these, restoration and achievement emerged as unique elements that distinguish walking festivals from other festival types. Restoration was linked to emotional and physical healing in nature-oriented settings, whereas achievement was reinforced by both intrinsic motivations and extrinsic rewards, such as course completion certificates, which influenced participants’ post-festival behavioral intentions. By articulating the distinctive experiential qualities of walking festivals, this study advances a more nuanced understanding of festival program design. The findings further provide practical implications for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of differentiated festival experiences within tourism contexts.
