| dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the evolution-revolution trade-off in the smartphone industry using the iPhone 16 series as a case study. By integrating LDA-based topic modeling with GPT-based sentiment analysis on over 117,000 Reddit posts, the study identifies key issues and sentiment dynamics surrounding the product line. Opportunity scores were derived from the gaps between importance and satisfaction, leading to the construction of an opportunity landscape map that distinguishes innovation candidates (revolutions) from improvement tasks (evolutions) for each model. The analysis revealed that the main areas for improvement across the series were battery and camera, while case/protection in the 16Pro, defects/compatibility in the 16ProMax, and pricing/storage capacity in the 16e emerged as revolutions, whereas no revolution appeared in the 16 model. This study holds academic and practical significance by capturing subtle shifts in consumer perception through a hybrid approach that integrates topic modeling and LLM-based sentiment analysis, thereby proposing directions for product innovation. | - |
