dc.description.abstractLargely deformed beams are easily shown in many engineering problems such as biomechanics, soft actuators, morphing wings, solar sail, spacecraft and compliant mechanisms. However, solving this kind of problem is quite difficult due to its non-lineality. For this reason, many special methods have been used to solve large deformation static or dynamic problems such as non-linear finite element method, homotopy analysis method, non-linear shooting and Adomian decomposition method, elliptic integral, etc. In this paper, a new method is proposed to solve the large deformation beam problem. In this method, not only displacement but also curvature is approximated by linear series of the trial functions. By doing so, the system can be transformed into a linear system. This new approach is demonstrated for various types of examples and the solution is validated with that of commercial software ANSYS.-
