New automotive applications such as infotainment and driver's assistance have more bandwidth requirement and more stringent latency/jitter constraints. IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) protocol suite is expected to guarantee the requirements in Ethernet-based car communication. IEEE 802.1 AVB defined Stream Reservation Classes (SR-Class) for forwarding and queuing of AVB traffic. The standards recommended using two SR-Classes. However, vehicle industry decided to use only one SR-Class in in-car network. In this paper, we use the network simulation tool OMNeT++ to simulate a real in-car network design and traffic model. Through simulations we confirm that using one SR-Class meets the AVB traffic requirements and it has several advantages.-
