Abstract
Spot-welding has been widely used for combining two or more structures. Characteristics of the combined structures were investigated by vibration test method utilizing flexural waves. A theoretic al model of the wave propagation on spot-welded structures was proposed. The proposed model was verified by comparing with experimental results. Evaluation of the spot-welded locations in the structures were conducted using the estimated properties. Propagating waves on vehicle structures are affected by positions and boundary conditions of the structures. Deriving local characteristics of spot-welded structures are essential for minimizing influence from the boundaries. Measuring procedure is developed for identifying local characteristics in actual vehicles. The procedure can be applied to diagnosis of spot-welded locations in actual vehicle structures and composite structures.
