- Abstract
- As the number of electronic control units (ECUs) in vehicles increases, it becomes increasingly important to manage them integrally. However, to update or modify the software built into ECUs, the only way for vehicle owners is to visit the car repair shops and receive customer services directly. As a result, many researchers have been actively conducted to integrate Over-The-Air (OTA) technology, which can update the ECU software by wireless communication, into the automotive industry. Collaboration between the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and the Mobile Service Provider (MSP) is essential to integrate the OTA technology into the automotive industry. This paper proposes a scenario for updating the ECU software using the OTA technology through mobile communication network supported by the MSP. Future works will also briefly discuss the benefits of combining 5G communications, which is now a global issue, into the scenario proposed in this paper.
