- Abstract
- Noise in the image is caused by various external factors in the process of acquiring or transmitting the image data. The noise causes degradation of image quality due to loss of information. Representative noise is Gaussian noise and Impulse noise. In this paper, we propose a low pass filter that eliminates the noise by assigning weights using a diamond mask to remove Gaussian noise and Impulse noise. The proposed algorithm is applied to images with Gaussian noise and Impulse noise. It is shown that the proposed algorithm performs better noise reduction performance than the conventional LPF.
