dc.description.abstractTopology optimization has greatly improved the torque performance of IPMSM with only a small design change through a high degree of freedom of design. However, the design optimization of the motor has reached saturation and it is difficult to further improve the performance by changing the design alone. Therefore, motor design using a grain-oriented electrical steel has been proposed to improve the performance, but there is a difficulty in determining its orientation. To overcome this issue, topology optimization method, which is capable of simultaneous design of density and orientation of anisotropic material, is proposed by introducing orientation design variables in addition to the density design variable in the motor design. In order to solve the problem of the lack of robustness of the optimal layout of deterministic approach and the problem of local minima, a robust optimal design method using the Chebyshev interval method is introduced. The effectiveness of the proposed technique had been verified through an numerical example of In-wheel type traction motor-
