dc.description.abstractAlthough topology optimization (TO) of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is performed under sinusoidal currents, it has shown notable performance improvement. but it’s very sensitive and does not guarantee optimal performance under PWM variation current. In this study, robust TO considering the PWMC is performed. It is required nonlinear analysis of the samples of the PWMC every iteration to calculate the mean and variance for the robust formulation. An efficient approximation method is used to prevent excessive computation using the frozen permeability (FP) method. Since the PWMC can be decomposed into fundamental wave (FW) and harmonic waves of fine amplitudes, the relative permeability obtained from the nonlinear analysis of the fundamental wave is frozen, and then the PWMC linear analysis can approximate the nonlinear analysis of the PWMC samples. Finally, the robust TO is performed. Example of PMSM was performed to validate the proposed method.-
