A miniaturized dual-band half-mode patch antenna for water utility Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a semicircular patch with a shorting via to generate the higher order mode. In order to reduce the size in half, the proposed antenna adopts a half-mode concept. The radius of the proposed antenna is 209 mm and the height is 30 mm. The simulated 10-dB return loss bandwidths are 3 MHz (264 MHz - 267 MHz) at the low band and 10 MHz (907 MHz - 917 MHz) at the high band. The simulated results show that the proposed antenna has an omni-directional radiation pattern with a maximum gain of 2.4 dBi at the low band and a directional radiation pattern with a maximum gain of 7.7 dBi at the high band.-
