dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a joint area design between dissimilar materials using multi-material topology optimization. Research on the multi-material topology optimization has been increased with the requirement of the lightweight design for improving fuel efficiency, however, there has been a limited study of the joint area design between different materials. In this research, the modified material interpolation method is proposed to construct the joint area between materials during multi-material topology optimization process. A structural layout and a joint area appear simultaneously without change of mesh and element characteristics.-
