The cathode polarization resistance is the main contributor to overall cell resistance at intermediate operating temperatures in solid oxide fuel cells. The Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ cathode exhibited a high-power output because of its high rate of oxygen diffusion at low temperature, showing that the BSCF was an excellent cathode material for reduced temperature SOFCs. Characteristics of the BSCF cathodes without detachment were studying fabricated by electrostatic slurry spray deposition (ESSD) process. The porous BSCF(Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ) cathode is deposited on a GDC(Gd0.2Ce0.8O1.9) pellet by ESSD using a slurry consisting of a BSCF powder, solvents and some other additives. Electrochemical properties of pure BSCF cathode on GDC electrolyte pellet at intermediate temperatures (500 ~ 750oC) and oxygen partial pressure were investigated by using AC impedance analyzer. The polarization resistance gradually decreased with an increase of temperature and the oxygen partial pressure, suggesting that the ORR kinetics at the BSCF/GDC interface is high due to the excellent mixed ionic and electronic conductivity of BSCF.-
