dc.description.abstractIn this work, the aerosol flame deposition(AFD) methode was applied to synthesis nanocrystalline Co3O4powder for negative electrode application in lithium-ion battery. To improve crystallinity- assynthesized soot powder was heat treat-treated at a temperature of 300 oC to 700 oC for 12h. The synthesized powders were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and electrochemical measurements. The Co(OH)2 and CoO were first formed by the synthesis and the subsequent heat treatment converted those to Co3O4. The FWHMs of the XRD peaks were reduced and their intensity increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature, which is due to improved crystallinity. The Co3O4 powder by heat-treated at 700 oC for 12h exhibited the best cycling behavior among all the samples. This electrode exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 1130 mAh/g in the range of 0.01~3V and the reversible capacity reached 571 mAh/g after 30 cycles.-
