Implementation status of international human rights law and international humanitarian law in the Republic of Korea

Abstract

1. This report discusses how the international human rights law ("IHRL") and the international humanitarian law ("IHL") are applied within the domestic courts in the Republic of Korea ("ROK"). Most of this report will be focused on the IHRL, since the IHL is relatively infrequently applied compared to the IHRL. Only a few notable cases regarding the IHL are explained in this report.
