dc.description.abstract | Magnesium is very promising desulfurizer due to unique and rapid reaction of 0.15~0.26min-1 with sulfur in the iron. The use of Magnesium based desulfurizer is inevitable because of increasing of sulfur content due to adoption of smelting reduction process. However, the use of Mg as the desulfurizer of iron is limited due to its ultra lightness and low melting temperature compared to those of iron. Thus, it needs to shield the surface of Mg powders by the elements which is stable at the temperature range as well as has the same desulfurization function. In order to reduce evaporation rate Mg-coke, lime-Mg, salt coated magnesium powder, co-injection process which is injected after mixing homogeneously magnesium and other desulphurizer were used [1-3]. In this work, in order to like that, CaO was coated on the Mg powder surface using the ball milling method. The effect of the processing parameters such as ball to powder ratio and milling time, micro structure and evaluation of desulfurization were carried out. | - |
