| dc.description.abstract | Harmful algal blooms(HAB) directly results pollution of water bodies and their impact are well familiar through out the world. We tried to study algicidal effects of several (85) Thiazolidinedione (TD) compounds on three species of red tide microalgae include Heterosigma akashiwo, Chattonella marina and Cochlodinium polykrikoides and against green alga as control. All the microalgae were exposed to final concentrations of 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1?M. Screening of algicidal activity carried to determine its selectivity and specificity. Reduction ratio observed effective for number of the TD compounds against H. akashiwo, includes as 54, 60(26-1), 65, 69, 59(5-1), 49, 67, 50-1, 72 and 73; for C. marina as 49, 76, 37, 6, 57, 54, 27, 26, 75 and 28; for C. polykrikoides as 48, 53, 57, 60(26-1), 45, 42, 49, 41, 76 and 61. However even at the narrow concentration ranges, the selective compounds observed prominent as TD 69 against H. akashiwo, TD 28; against C. marina, whereas TD 53 against C. polykrikoides algal species were investigated. TD 49 observed very efficient for all studied red tide alga and showed low IC50 value at 1 ?M concentration, which indicates its effectiveness. | - |
