| dc.description.abstract | Quantum communication and quantum computation have so far been studied independently due to the difficulty in finding out a single physical system that can serve for both of them. It seems more natural to use each appropriate quantum system for each information task rather than to find out a single quantum system. In this work, we consider a hybrid system which consists of two or more kinds of quantum systems. In order to realize quantum information processing based on such a hybrid system, it is required to design a quantum interface, which can efficiently interconvert a quantum state between the subsystems of different species. The quantum interface we consider, in particular, employs a surface plasmon polariton(SPP) as a mediator for the interaction between photon and quantum dot(QD), that are adopted for quantum communication and quantum computation, respectively. We call it a SPP-mediated quantum interface. In a previous work, we made the quantum description on the excitation of SPPs by quantum light, and investigated the quantum features on the excitation of SPPs. Subsequently, the interaction between SPPs and QDs, and its controllability are discussed. This work shines a new light on the QIP network with hybrid system. | - |
