Ingested foreign bodies may have an uneventful course or be impacted in the gastrointestinal tract. Ninety-five percent of the ingested foreign bodies will progress through the entire gastrointestinal tract. Most of the foreign bodies pass through the gastrointestinal tract within a week.1 The incidence of foreign bodies in the appendix is very low because most are expelled without consequences. Foreign bodies are a rare cause of appendicitis. The first case of acute appendicitis caused by a needle in the appendix was reported by Eames in 1912.2 Before the 20th century, foreign body induced appendicitis was more common due to the frequency of hand-sewing and eating wild game.3,4 Now days the presence of intraluminal exogenous bodies is rare with an estimated overall incidence of 0.0005%.2 We report the case of a 34-year-old man who had a needle in the appendix and was operated for the foreign body removal.-
