Global Studies at Hanyang University

Abstract

Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea will be offering a Master of Arts in Global Studies from 2009. While the official decision from the University to launch the program is still pending as of May 2008, the prospects are very encouraging. The two-year degree program will admit 5 MA students and eventually grow to admitting roughly 5 in the Ph. D and 12-15 students in the MA program in view of the results within the first several years. While the Global Studies at Hanyang is designed as a means of providing students with a rigorous interdisciplinary education in the crucial issues confronting today`s globalized world through an understanding of the economic, political, social, and cultural forces that are shaping global patterns of the world, its curriculum will be more humanities-oriented, ultimately leading to a dialogue with the fileds outside of humanities.
