Ni base superalloys are used for the high temperature applications such as turbine blades, structural materials for nuclear reactors, and high temperature gas cooled reactors for h2 production. the tube material for high temperature gas cooled reactor is operated at the highest temperatures of 950oC and 8MPa in He gas with some impurities and required to have high temperature strength, creep rupture strength, high temperature stability and good corrosion resistance. inconel 617 is a candidate tube material of the heat exchanger of the high temperature gas cooled reactors. this material is a solid solution alloy with the excellent combination of high temperature strength and good corrosion resistance. in this work, the oxidation behavior of inconel 617 alloy was studied by exposure at 1050oC to investigate high temperature oxidation behavior and mechanical properties.-
