| dc.description.abstract | Purpose: The GEANT4 detector simulation toolkit, which is used to simulate the Compton camera, is not user-friendly and requires a certain level of knowledge in Monte Carlo techniques, especially when it comes to detector parameterization and 4-D Monte Carlo simulation. The objective of this study is to develop a user-friendly, GUI-based simulation code, called CCSC (Compton Camera Simulation Code), to facilitate the simulation of the Compton camera. Methods and Materials: The simulation code, CCSC, was developed in the MATLABTM environment, in conjunction with GEANT4 detector simulation toolkit. Results: The simulation of a Compton camera is now possible by simply proving the detector parameters such as source information, inter-detector configuration, and detailed detector specifications. The capabilities of CCSC include not only gamma-ray tracking simulation, but also direct image reconstruction and analysis based on LM-EM algorithm and Gaussian fitting. 4-D Monte Carlo simulation and 3-D visualization of detector geometries are also possible. Conclusions: CCSC is a user-friendly, GUI-based Compton camera simulation code developed in the MALABTM environment. This program will significantly reduce the time and efforts to simulate the Compton camera in the future. | - |
