dc.description.abstract3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate(MOP) was introduced onto the surface of silica particles by the sequential addition of tetraethl orthosilicate (TEOS) and MOP to W/O emulsion. The experiments that controlled the concentration of cross-linking agent and the ratio of NIPAm monomer to MOP-silica was performed at 70°C. PNIPAm-grafted silica particles were synthesized by radical copolymerization of NIPAm monomers and MOP-modified silica particles. The introduction of MOP onto the surface of silica particles and the synthesis of PNIPAm-silica composites were conrifmed by FT-IR, FE-SEM, TEM, TGA, and DSC.-
