| dc.description.abstract | Dunaliella sp. is one of the most studied microalgae under laboratory and mass culture conditions, because of its commercial utilization as a source of carotenoids. To investigate the molecular response to the varieties of environmental stress, such as light and salt, cDNA chip was generated. using the cDNA library created from irradiance-stressed Dunaliella sp.. Analysis of cDNA microarray was used to compare gene expression profiling between cells growing under salt stressed (0.08M and 4.5M NaCl) culture condition. Among the 778 genes in the cDNA array, there are genes exhibiting differential expression (two-fold changes) under salt stress condition, where 43 genes showed up-regulation but 58 genes were down-regulation in low-salt stress (0.08M NaCl), and 82 genes showed up-regulation but 56 genes showed down-regulation in high-salt stress (4.5M NaCl). A comparison of microarray and real-time PCR analysis showed that the differentially expressed genes showed a high correlation between the two methods. | - |
