| dc.description.abstract | Encapsulation of organic molecules in carbon nanotubes has opened a new route for the fabrication of hybrid nanostructures. In this work, we inserted various organic molecules inside single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Vibrational spectra were measured to know the information of quantum structure of organic molecules inside SWNTs. Infra-red (IR), Raman, and near-IR spectrophotometer were used for that in our experiments. We found that organic molecules interact with SWNTs via charge transfer, i.e. electron donating or electron withdrawing. According to our results, some vibrational modes of molecules were closely related with the electron donating or withdrawing. Here we also studied the fluorescence from organic molecules after encapsulation and observed vibronic patterns with high resolution. The main purpose of this work is to find the general relationship between the vibrational modes of organic molecules and charge transfer behaviour after encapsulation. | - |
