| dc.description.abstract | Soft magnetic composites offer an interesting alternative to the traditional laminated silicon iron sheets as core material in electrical machines. Soft magnetic composites are isotropic, have improved high frequency performance and can be compacted to 3D-shapes using the established powder metallurgy compaction route. In this work, the effects of warm compaction and polymer binder on magnetic properties of Fe-Si alloys were investigated. Ball-milled Fe-33at.%Si powder for 20 hours, pure Fe powder and polymer binder were mixed for 5 hours by 3-D turbular mixer in acetone solvent. And then the mixed powder was warm-compacted with various compaction pressures. As the compaction pressure increase, density of the specimen has a tendency to increase. The microstructures of the specimen were observed scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis was performed for the phase identifications. The magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization, coercivity and core loss were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer and B-H curve analyzer. The resulted showed that increasing the density enhance magnetic properties. | - |
