| dc.description.abstract | The ground motion is significantly amplified by the soil profile overlying the bedrock. Thus, accurate estimation of ground amplification characteristics is essential for seismic design of a structure. Ground motion amplification is most often simulated by performing one-dimensional site response analysis. However, in most cases except when designing a critical structure, site response analysis is seldom performed in practice. Instead, the seismic code is widely used to estimate the surface ground motion. This paper introduces both the seismic codes of the United States and the Korea and describes the method for developing the design response spectrum. | - |
