| dc.description.abstract | We consider the Polyakov functional which is a starting point of the string theory and introduce a modified version of it to suit for all compact oriented manifolds which maintains all the symmetries of the original one. The tensor fields coming from the variational principle are calculated. Using the modified Polyakov functional to define a smooth invariant for manifolds is discussed. | - |
