dc.description.abstractBulk metallic glasses (BMGs) tend to appear macroscopically brittle, since the plastic flows in the materials are severely localized into shear bands. In this study, to gain new insights of the small scale deformation behaviour in BMG, a series of instrumented indentation experiments were performed on Zr-based BMGs under various testing conditions (i.e., at various loading rates and maximum loads). Results are discussed in terms of prevailing ideas for shear-band-ruled deformation behaviours in the glasses.-
