Terpyridines, which from metal complex with variety of transition mertal ion, have widely applications in fields such as macromolecular chemistry, biochemistry and photophysics. The absorption and fluorescence spectra of quinoxaline bearing 2,2´:6´,2´´-terpyridine change as a result of the coordination of metal ions with terpyridine ligands. This change of fluorescence intensity on additional of metal ions is shown signal for metal ion sensing. These compounds were characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, MALDI-TOF-Ms spectroscopy and 1H-NMR spectroscopy.-
