dc.description.abstractPodalin, isolated in 1999 from the leaves of Annona graba shows potent cytotoxicity against breast and prostate cancer cells. Strained ansa-chain presents a significant challenge for the total synthesis of this (9)-paracyclophane natural product. Our approach toward this molecule is based on the IMDA(intramolecular Diels-Alder) reaction and subsequent aromatization for the formation of macrolide. Preliminary investigation of Stille-transetherification-IMDA sequences is presented-
