| dc.description.abstract | Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) are consist of family of peroxidases found in all living organisms from bacteria to plant and animal. Prxs are heme-free peroxidase that reduces alkyl hydroperoxides and hydrogen peroxide so that they are involved in redox signaling. Prxs are known to be located in distinct cell compartments including the chloroplast and mitochondrion. A cDNA encoding Prx was isolated from cDNA library of light stressed Dunaliella salina. The alignment result of deduced amino acid sequence shows that the Dunaliella salina Prx cDNA codes 2-Cys Prxs. Northern blot analysis revealed that the expression of 2-Cys Prxs gene was significantly modulated by light stress. And this gene also showed photoperiod.ic response. From these results, it is postulated that 2-Cys Prx may have role in antioxidant defense in stress response, may also be involved in modulating redox signaling during adaptation. | - |
