| dc.description.abstract | The authors report a case of a nearly asymptomatic 51-year-old Korean woman who was found to have diffuse, multiple nodules of the lungs on a routine chest radiograph. She had a hysterectomy 16 years previously for uterine myoma. She had no history of smoking or exposure to drugs or toxins. Collagen vascular diseases, or infection with bacteria, mycobacteria, and fungi were all excluded through routine standard testing and samples with bronchoscopy. Sputum cytology, bronchial washing cytology and fine needle aspiration samples were all negative for malignant cells. An open lung biopsy revealed tumor composed of interlacing bundles of spindle cells with cigar shaped nucleus and eosinophilic myofibrils in the cytoplasm, consistent with multiple leiomyomas. Stain for SMA(smooth muscle actin), desmin, c-kit(CD117), Ki-67, p53, cytokeratin, CD34, MSA were performed. Another stains for estrogen and progesterone receptor were positive. The authors report an interesting case of BML in 51-year-old patient, to their knowledge, the second case in Korea. | - |
