dc.description.abstract | A pseudo-linear Standing Wave Design for nonideal systems was proposed and tested for ternary separation of phenylalanine, histidine and tryptophan in a tandem SMB using PVP (Poly 4-VinylPyridine) resin. Single frontal tests were conducted to estimated pseudo linear isotherm parameter at given concentration of each amino acid. The design was checked with detailed VERSE simulations and validated with experiments on two rings of Versatile SMB units. The phenylalnine and tryptophane were completely separated in the first ring. In the second ring, phenylalanine and distributed histidine were completely separated. The column profiles and effluent histories agree closely with VERSE simulation results. The process can achieve relatively high purity and high yield of the middle affinity product, phenylalainine. | - |
