| dc.description.abstract | Method 381 eyes of 191 patients underwent Lasik with Moria M2 microkeratome and Allegretto-wave laser were reviewed retrospectively. Selection of M2 heads was based on preoperative pachymetry and predictable ablation depth. 220 eyes of 111 patients utilized M2 130 head, and the preoperative mean spherical equivalent(MSE) and the corneal pachymetry was -5.35±3.21D and 562±32 microns(130 head group). 161 eyes of 80 patients utilized M2 110 head, and the preoperative mean spherical equivalent and the corneal pachymetry was -5.47±3.16 D and 532±35 microns(110 head group). Intraopertive and postoperative flap-related complications and uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA) and best spectacle-corrected visual acuity(BSCVA) were evaluated and compared. Mean fullow-up was 8 months. Results There were no statistically significant intraoperative and postoperative flap-related complications in both groups. The postoperative MSE was -0.27±0.51D in the 130 head group and -17±0.45D in 110 head group. At 1 week, the mean UCVA was 0.89±0.17 and 0.88±0.21, respectively. At 3 month, the mean UCVA was 0.91±0.23 and 0.89±0.19, respectively. At 6 month follow-up, the eyes maintaining their preoperative BCVA level were 197 eyes(89.5%) and 147 eyes(91.3%), respectively. Conclusion Proper selection of M2 heads in accord with the preoperative pachymetry enabled enough residual stroma bed even with flying-spot laser, and both thick and thin flaps showed the superior visual outcome without significant complication. Besides, utilizing one single microkeratome with switching two heads is advantageous and cost-effective. | - |
