This paper deals with the relationship between the subjective room acoustical parameters and the objective properties of the sound field on an orchestra platform. A set of acoustical parameters were investigated both in a real platform and a simulated platform of a concert hall. Subjective preference tests were also conducted at the stages. Measurements were carried out at five source positions and a listener's position or at one source position and five listeners' position. Advantages and limitations of simulation versus field experiment in a concert hall platform are discussed and both experiments are reviewed, in which especially the EDT/RT and spatial impressions are investigated. It is found, that SUPPORT is related to the amount of early reflected energy emitted, and parameters EDT, C80, D50, Ts, 1-IACC (or LEF) are used for assessments of this quality. From the subjective preference tests, it is also found that musicians form their stage acoustic judgements in the dimensions of reverberance, clarity, envelopment, loudness, warmth, brilliance and overall quality. In addition, the relative reverberance EDT/RT is revealed to correlate well with the subject-averaged judgements and spatial impressions.-
