  • The Anatomical Record: Advances in Integrative Anatomy and Evolutionary Biology, is an official publication of the American Association of Anatomists. The Journal publishes new discoveries in the morphological aspects of molecular, cellular, developmental, evolutionary, and systems biology. The Journal focuses on major new integrative, multidisciplinary findings in the structural and functional consequences of gene disruption, activation, or over expression upon cell, tissue, or organ architecture. The Anatomical Record welcomes cutting-edge research and review articles on the following topics and methods: /// Functional morphology of any vertebrate organ system, including those with a developmental, comparative, or evolutionary theme. /// Organ or systems structure and function, including descriptive studies of normal or abnormal development become an important consideration in characterizing phenotypes. /// Quantitative morphological disciplines, such as morphometry, stereology, and geometric morphometrics. /// Imaging modalities ranging from those that image real-time signaling processes at the cellular or subcellular levels to those that image tissues, organs, or whole organisms. The Anatomical Record emphasizes the significance and impact of descriptive studies, as well as “negative” studies, in contemporary research, and therefore invites such submissions to the Journal. The Journal uses traditional peer-review process and review criteria by a permanent editorial board, board of reviewers, and invited reviewers to recommend acceptance of submissions that are descriptive or hypothesis-driven, high-quality, and impactful on the field. The journal does not accept papers that have appeared previously or simultaneously published elsewhere.
