dc.description.abstract | Museum is a public cultural space in which realities and reproductions are directed with coexistence of the past and present. Since descriptive construction of contents delivering information about exhibits is similar to narrativity of literature, this study aims to analyze aesthetic semiotics as valuation of literature through Bakhtin's Chronotope. The results of evaluating and analyzing the meaning and value of representative scenes exhibited at domestic and international natural history and archeology museums based on the five key words of Chronotope such as surplus of vision, polyphony, exteriority, transgression, and metonymic substitution are as follows. Most of exhibited scenes were expressed by heterogeneity when exteriority was excluded, but they placed foremost importance on the point of view when the focus was on exteriority. Furthermore, transgression was found to be more effective for realistic reproduction or observation with a sense of presence over heterogeneity. Second, exteriority based on perspective appeared to be clearer than polyphony in attracting concentrated observation, and it was used many times to express Oriental culture. Third, scenes with polyphony and multi-view arrangements had uniqueness of their own but formed a mutual interaction. They were mostly applied to Western culture and accounted for expansion of space using reverse perspective. Fourth, polyphony and heterogeneity are basic elements used to express metonymic substitution. This study demonstrated the possibility of scene interpretation through introduction of a literary theory. The author plans to conduct future studies on interpretation of various display, suggesting multi-disciplinary convergence as the basis for a new evaluation model. | - |
