Abstract

This study aims to propose the strategies to link local universities for revitalizing the old downtown in terms of integrated perspective. For this purpose, theoretical investigation, analytical case studies on the urban regeneration related to universities, and user surveys of local residents and local university students in Jochiwon were conducted. As a conclusion, integrated strategies in the aspect of physical environments and programs to link local universities for activating the old downtown of Jochiwon were proposed, and lessons for the future urban regeneration of the old downtown were suggested. Linking local universities to revitalize the old downtown will be a great strategy for urban regeneration if well-developed plans are established.
