- Abstract
- (Background and Purpose) Memorial halls today are diversifying into a cultural space carrying pluralistic meaning with various themes and purposes, as well as a space that implicitly conveys historical, cultural and educational messages through complex and synesthetic modes of expression. the essential meaning of the exhibition theme are recorded, and true stories of events are communicated and remembered. In particular, the memorial hall aims to provide a basic direction froma technical dimension to the exhibition plan through semiotic logic with respect to whether the essential meaning in the architectural and exhibition space synchronizes with the contents of the exhibition through the clear purpose and the message it intends to convey. (Method) The latent structure and meaning were extracted by using the semiotic narrative model of Greimass, the structure and system and the relation and form of the exhibition scenario were understood in the entire context of the discourse, the good and bad were easily distinguished through the schema, and the improvement measures were presented substantially. It structurally and technically approaches and schematizes the theme, which is the conceptual element of the memorial and ultimately suggests the right direction in which the essential value of the message or meaning is produced and communicated. (Results) It is not difficult to find the imperfect elements that are duplicated, omitted and left out through schematization and a certain step-by-step distribution was formed interms of narrative structure and discourse structure in the case of memorial halls. The exhibition scenarios such as the memorial hall could overcome thebias of the contents through narrative semiotic analysis and technically enhance the logical completeness, and they can be useful in composing exhibition scenarios for both professionals and amateurs. (Conclusion) In the planning stage of a memorial hall and in the place where it was established or even when the exhibition involves imbalance and bias, the logical validation of thesemiotic narrative structure can form the correct value in the whole area of the memorial hall and produce essential meaning and convey messages. This study is on the concrete methodology of a master plan at memorial halls and so forth, which need to set an integrated goal for the exhibition plan for the process of producing meaning through the interaction of architecture, exhibition space, and exhibition contents, and the process of conveying messages through concrete methodology of basic plans in memorials and so forth. The narrative semiotic analysis helps exhibition planners to compose a narrative structure before the exhibition, and where it has already been constructed it has value as coordinates to verify the sense of direction and as a standard and basic theory.
