- Abstract
- The knowledge-based view and network along with social capital views were argued to be necessary to be taken together in investigating firm performance. In line with this suggestion, the purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of business and political ties for the influence of headquarters knowledge transfer and local knowledge acquisition on Korean subsidiary performance in China. In turn, this will make us to identify the authentic roles of establishing and sustaining managerial ties locally. Our findings illustrate that executives' business and political ties have positive moderating effect on the relationship between local knowledge acquisition and subsidiary performance while business ties show negative interactive effect with headquarters knowledge transfer on subsidiary performance.
