Abstract
In this paper, we propose a Cross-Layer Cooperative Architecture (CLCA) to support transmission efficiency in mobile wireless sensor networks. The main features and contributions of the proposed architecture and method are as follows. First, the clustering which uses the mobility information of nodes is constructed with relays as underlying infrastructure. Second, a cross-layer strategy which uses the technologies of three-layers such as Routing in network layer, OFDM and Cooperative MAC in MAC layer, Cooperative Transmission in physical layer together is utilized to support transmission efficiency. Third, we consider a realistic approach based on mobile nodes as well as fixed nodes in sensor fields while the conventional research for sensor networks focus on mainly fixed sensor nodes. Fourth, we present a theoretical analysis of throughput and delay. The performance evaluation of the proposed method is performed via simulation using OPNET and theoretical analysis. The results of performance evaluation show the CLCA can effectively support transmission services.
