- Abstract
- Many studies have been conducted on the earthmoving optimization in order to minimize the project cost. The optimal solution has been provided through models from previous researches. However, those models did not take into account the practical constraints and also required complex program coding, which civil engineers cannot easily write without the basic knowledge of optimization. In this study, an easy-to-use user interface is developed to automate the program coding. Also, practical constraints such as non-passable areas and the usage of construction roads in the site have been considered in this particular model. The A* algorithm and the weighted factor method are newly deployed for these features. The updated model is expected to enhance the practicality of the earthmoving operation. © 2013 International Information Institute.
