- Abstract
- The current Korean financial regulatory legislation takes institutional regulatory form according to the kinds of respective financial institutions. This system has a problem with accommodating and regulating financial supermarkets that display multiple financial products of different financial institutions or consolidated financial advisers who covers similarly wide multiple financial products.
This study shows firstly the current situation and problems of present distribution channel for financial products, and then reviews the British distribution channel that is newly introduced by the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. Finally, the study explores the possible solutions to the current problems, and suggests how to introduce "a new consolidated functional distribution channel" : that should be accomplished through an functional legislation independently of the present institutional legislation and be consolidated as a self-sufficient wide-covering regulatory system.
