Starting in 2009, the discontinuance of analog TV broadcasting in the United States, from 2010, analog TV broadcasting in Korea will also be off the air and converted into total HD broadcasting. Until the present day, analog TV has been developed in the chosen ratio of 4:3 according to the standards of the film industry since NTSC television broadcasting standards had been proposed in 1941.However after the advent of digital broadcasting which preferred the wide screen ratio of 16:9, a complete adjustment of current screen guideline for broadcasting screen standard- 4:3 became inevitable.Especially in the present case which the 4:3 analog programs and the 16:9 HD programs are both being broadcasted, the necessity for a new screen guideline is raising. Together with the alteration in the aspect ratio, improvement in the quality of the existing screen brought about the changes in the text legiblity and that, a study for this should also be carried out at once. In this study, a suitable broadcasting screen grid system for 16:9 screen ratio is suggested, based on the analysis of graphic elements in the current broadcasting programs.Staying off the receptive position that is followed by the development of technology, it should actively meet the situation of the changes in the market and positively put the media branding strategy to practical use.-
