dc.description.abstractMuseums can be a foundation for communication as well as media between past/present/future self and others, including a society; and they can also be a foundation for education. By changing the existing function of exhibition, research, storage and education, museums should adapt to the new, cultural needs of the general public. Three directions can be suggested for a future exhibition environment of museums. Traditional museums can be transformed into an intellectual space. Electronic museums and cyber museums, which can provide virtual reality experience using the infrastructure of an electronic environment, will be gradually developed. Lastly, in a pluralistic society, cyber museums will be formed as a complex community facility by combining a physical environment and electronic environment. Various museums that specialize in the characteristics of local artifacts will appear in the future.-
